We have realized important reasons why Nigeria Super Eagles
fail to qualify for African Cup of Nations final in Gabon. Imagine a nation with a population of 150
million people incapable of winning a country of less than 20 million? There
are underlying factors that may have account for such failure. The super
eagle’s technical adviser, Sampson Siasia did his best by testing the players’
faith, patriotism and commitment to the team but all his efforts proved abortive. Then
where do we go from here? Why did the team fail to go through the nations cup
finals?
One of the reasons responsible for the team failure is lack of a lasting
team work. By lasting team work I mean the tendency at which all players on training
together for a long time as a team. However, this would enable them to
understand their objectives, tactics and styles involved according to technical
set up. Therefore the team should have raised a standard home base team and
injected 4 or 5 serious professional players during international matches.
Secondly, the spirit of football has left the nation for a
while and there is need for an urgent recovery. I wonder why people said that if the super eagle’s
first goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama was at the post, Guinea would not had
excelled through. Okay, was it not this keeper that man the post when the same
super eagle played away match in Guinea, which the super eagle lost by 1=0?.
Also, on that match day in Abuja national stadium, the population of spectators
despite free ticket was absolutely poor. I would like to say that the nation is
not healthy. Majority citizens of this nation are not happy due to
deteriorating economic situation that prevails.
Thirdly, almost all super eagle’s players of that
Nigeria-Guinea match are professionals whom their club interests are of
paramount. Besides this, most of them are now happy that Nigeria will not
partake in the Nations cup finals giving them enough time to be with their
international clubs.
Finally, we need players to be trained together for some
time to make them blend together and with national happiness the super eagles
and its fan shall smile again. Above instances are the strong reasons why
